Here’s a letter from Patrick, dated Christmas 1977 (40 years ago today), in which he describes a novel that didn’t sell and progress on another. He also declared that he loved the new space western Star Wars, which I didn’t appreciate (and still don’t, except for the technical prettiness).

Last night I saw the latest Star Wars. I wonder what Patrick would have thought of it? It certainly had the same action/space opera feel of the original, right down to the musical themes and visual attack sequences.
