I called Patrick from the race track this morning. He reported that the last couple of days have been really bad, but today was a little bit better.
Ivonne and Aina (Ivonne’s daughter) took him to his doctor’s appointment today. The doctor gave him some new medicines, one for longer-term and the other for more immediate relief.
Yesterday and the day before he was using words like “agony” and “excruciating” again. Nonetheless yesterday he managed to get out of bed and cook some bacon and eggs, breakfast he has not enjoyed in a very long time. He mentioned that because of the pain, in the time it took him to cook is the time he used to be able to crank out a complete short story of 30+ pages. You could tell that it saddened him.
