Basmati is Closing

As I’ve mentioned more than once, the Basmati Bangladeshi/Indian restaurant was one of Patrick’s favorites, a delightful place with exquisite food. It was natural that we held a luncheon in Patrick’s honor there in 2017, and every visit I’ve made to Mallorca before and since has always included at least one meal there.

Sadly, I learned today, via the announcement below posted on front-of-your-head-book, that Basmati is closing in November. I would love to go there one more time, just as I would love to visit my Mallorquin friends and revisit many of Patrick’s haunts, as well as the place he died. I just don’t see how I can make my schedule work to arrange such a visit in the allotted time frame.

I hope that some of you will go to Basmati, to thank Shahin for his hospitality and superb cuisine over all the years. Perhaps you would extend, on my behalf, my own thanks for the friendship he extended to Patrick and Stephanie, Carl and Antoinette, the Bonners, and so many others.

By the way, it’s my understanding that many of the antiques and artifacts in the restaurant are for sale. Perhaps you will find something you like from the restaurant. Visit the Basmati web site and see if there’s something that interests you. You can find the items on Facebook by searching for Basmati Indian Cuisine in Palma on the island of Mallorca.
